RETAIL SALES ASSISTANT

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Sales Assistant must perform many duties and has responsibilities to support both the front and back end of the retail environment.

STORE MAINTENANCE

  • Perform basic housekeeping tasks necessary to keep the store in good shape for business. This includes things such as cleaning windows and glass display cases, dusting fixtures, and vacuuming/mopping the shop floor amongst other cleaning. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organised store environment, including emptying rubbish and recycling bins and keeping walkways and working areas tidy
  • Abide by all OHS requirements and regulations

STOCK MANAGEMENT

  • Restock the shop including the snacks and drinks area
  • Monitor and maintain store inventory
  • Process incoming stock including pricing and updating inventory numbers
  • Merchandise shelf displays and ensure that the store is well presented

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SALES

  • Greet customers in a timely, welcoming and inviting manner
  • Delight our customers and create an exciting and positive shopping and gaming experience in-store
  • Assist customers with enquiries both in-store and by telephone, including helping them select and/or locate products and taking orders or pre-orders for items not in stock
  • Access pricing lists for TCGs
  • Assess pricing for TCG singles using multiple websites to provide a fair and accurate market price to customers
  • Sort and put TCG singles and bulk away in appropriate locations each shift
  • Be aware of each product’s location and maintain product knowledge for everything sold in the shop
  • Be aware of and inform customers about upcoming product releases, including new products, expansions, and special items
  • Know and apply all store policies and procedures
  • Communicate and resolve problems related to floor operations by informing the Directors
  • Maintain knowledge of current promotions and ensure every customer you interact with is aware of these promotions
  • Deal with customer complaints and issues in a respectful and productive way
  • Accurately process sales transaction through POS and handle cash safely and securely

TOURNAMENTS AND OTHER GAMING EVENTS

  • Operate store events such as regular tournaments, pre-releases, store championships and board games days
  • Teach customers how to play board games from the store library and provide demonstrations of TCGs using demo decks
  • Accurately and appropriately utilise proprietary tournament software to run events such as TOM (Pokemon), Eventlink (Magic the Gathering), GEM (Flesh and Blood), Bandai TCG+,  Asmodee and Bushi Road Navigator
  • Maintain customer data privacy according to store policies and legal requirements
  • Attain or be willing to attain required status to deliver gaming events, such as Pokemon Professor, within 30 days of employment

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of five years of working experience
  • Have or be able to obtain a Working With Children Permit within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to lift up to 15kgs
  • Legally able to work in Australia without sponsorship

Experience: 

  • Proven experience in a retail or customer service role (a minimum of 2 years)
  • Experience playing board games, RPGs and/or TCGs desired
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry is a bonus

  • Willingness to learn new technology, including tournament software and POS systems
  • Ability to follow directions and follow the store procedures

  • Ability to adjust to ever-changing priorities in customer oriented retail sales environment
  • Maintain a professional, clean and neat appearance

  • Complete daily opening and closing tasks accurately and on time
  • Ensure store is clean and presentable at all times
  • Deal with customers, suppliers and other employees professionally at all times
